Sarah E. Josephson is a member and managing partner of the firm focusing primarily on labor and employment law. Ms. Josephson serves as general counsel to labor unions and associations and handles the full range of labor relations and legal needs for them.
Ms. Josephson also represents employers in connection with a range of legal needs.
She speaks regularly on a variety of employment law topics, including the Family Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Experience
Ms. Josephson serves as general counsel to labor unions and associations, including the IAFF Local 1264 and United Academics. She handles the full range of labor relations and legal needs for these clients, including collective bargaining, employee rights and grievances, and the negotiation and settlement of compensation and benefits issues. Ms. Josephson regularly represents clients before the National Labor Relations Board and the Alaska State Labor Relations Agency in connection with matters including the filing of unfair labor practice charges.
Ms. Josephson also represents employers in connection with a range of legal needs. This includes advising them on day-to-day issues like wage and hour questions, hiring and firing decisions, employment agreements, FMLA and ADA. Ms. Josephson also defends employers against discrimination and other employment-related claims in Superior Court and before the EEOC.
Ms. Josephson speaks regularly on a variety of employment law topics, including the Family Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Josephson served as a public defender for two years in Kodiak, Alaska. She also clerked for a judge on the Alaska Superior Court.
