PRIVACY POLICY AND TERMS OF USE

Last updated: October 14, 2026

jdolaw.com is the website of Jermain, Dunnagan & Owens, P.C., an Alaska professional corporation. This Privacy Policy describes our policies and procedures regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of your information when you use our Website. Section III sets out the Terms and Conditions that govern your use of the Website. By visiting and using our Website, you agree to the Terms and Conditions and to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

I. Definitions

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, the following terms have the meanings set forth below:

  • “We”, “us”, or “our” refers to Jermain, Dunnagan & Owens, P.C., an Alaska professional corporation.
  • “Provided Personal Information” means data that you voluntarily provide to us while using or interacting with our Website, or through third-party platforms and services that we use in connection with our business operations.
  • “General Usage Data” refers to data collected automatically, either through your use of our Website or from the Website infrastructure itself.
  • “Personal Data” refers collectively to Provided Personal Information and General Usage Data.
  • “Service Provider” means any natural or legal person who processes or manages Personal Data on our behalf, including third-party companies or individuals engaged by us to host, operate, secure, or measure the Website, or to assist us with our business operations.
  • “Website” refers to the website located at https://jdolaw.com. Requests to www.jdolaw.com are redirected to that address. The Website does not include the separate third-party systems described in Section V, such as our online payment page, our client portal, and our document management platforms. Your use of those systems is also subject to the terms and privacy practices of the companies that operate them.

II. Collection of Personal Data

1. Provided Personal Information

The Website itself does not currently offer a contact form, an intake form, an account registration, or any other feature through which you can submit information to us. The only interactive feature is a search box, and the terms you enter are treated as General Usage Data.

We do collect the information you provide when you interact with the third-party platforms and services we use in connection with our business operations, including our online payment page, our client portal, and our document management and collaboration platforms. This information may be used in connection with our business operations, including billing, accounting, document management, and collaboration.

If we add a contact form, intake form, or similar feature to the Website in the future, we will collect the information you submit through it and will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.

2. General Usage Data

While you use our Website, General Usage Data may be collected automatically. General Usage Data may include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Your device’s Internet Protocol address (IP address);
  • Your approximate geographic location, which is derived from your IP address;
  • Your browser type and version, your operating system, and your general device type, as reported by your browser;
  • The website or search engine that directed you to our Website;
  • The pages of our Website that you visit, the links you select, the terms you enter in our search box, and similar interactions with those pages;
  • The date and time of your visit and the approximate time spent on each page;
  • Your screen size and similar display characteristics reported by your browser; and
  • Other technical or diagnostic information generated when your browser requests pages from our Website, including reports of network errors.

When you access the Website from a mobile device, the same categories of data apply. Your browser reports the general type of device, the mobile operating system, and the mobile browser you are using. Because the Website is an ordinary website and not a mobile application, we do not collect a device serial number, advertising identifier, or other unique device identifier, and we do not operate a mobile application.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. The following cookies and technologies are used in connection with the Website:

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4, which we deliver through Google Tag Manager as described in Section V. When you visit the Website, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies on your device, named _ga and _ga_ followed by our measurement identifier. These cookies store a randomly generated identifier that allows visits to be counted and a returning visitor to be recognized. They are set to expire up to two years after your most recent visit and can be removed at any time through your browser settings.

Website cookies

The Website runs on WordPress, which sets cookies only for users who sign in to administer the site. Ordinary visitors are not signed in and are not issued those cookies.

Cookieless measurement

Cloudflare Web Analytics, described in Section V, measures page views without setting cookies and without assigning you a persistent identifier. Declining or deleting cookies does not affect that measurement.

Web beacons

The Website does not currently contain web beacons (also referred to as clear gifs, pixel tags, and single-pixel gifs) or advertising pixels. If we add them, we will update this Privacy Policy.

Your control over cookies

The Website does not display a cookie consent banner, and analytics cookies are set when you arrive. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies, to refuse cookies from particular sites, or to alert you when a cookie is being sent. Refusing or deleting cookies does not prevent you from reading or navigating the Website. Section VII describes these choices and the Google Analytics opt-out in more detail.

Your use of or access to this Website does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and Jermain, Dunnagan & Owens, P.C. and does not prevent the firm from representing another person or entity whose interests may be adverse to yours.

The opinions expressed on this Website are those of the individual author and may not reflect the opinions of the firm or any individual attorney.

5. Changes to these Terms

These Terms and Conditions were last updated on October 14, 2026. Jermain, Dunnagan & Owens, P.C. reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time by posting updated terms on this Website. Your continued use of the Website following the posting of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms and Conditions. Questions or comments regarding these Terms and Conditions may be directed to [email protected].

IV. Use, Disclosure, and Retention of Personal Data

1. Use of Personal Data

We may use Personal Data for the following purposes. Our Service Providers may also use General Usage Data for these purposes:

  • To collect payment for the legal services we provide;
  • To provide, maintain, and secure our Website, including to deliver pages efficiently, to protect the Website against malicious traffic, and to diagnose technical problems;
  • To monitor the usage of our Website;
  • To support our billing and accounting operations;
  • To support our clients through collaboration systems; and
  • To analyze data, identify usage trends, and evaluate and improve our Website and your experience.

2. Disclosure of Personal Data

To our Service Providers. We may share Personal Data with our Service Providers as necessary to host, operate, secure, measure, and improve our Website and to facilitate our business operations, including billing, accounting, document management, and collaboration. The categories of Service Providers we use are described in Section V.

Other circumstances where disclosure is necessary. We may be required to disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to a valid request by a court or governmental agency. We also may disclose your Personal Data if we have a good-faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation; protect or defend our rights or property; prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with our Website; protect the personal safety of users of our Website or the public; or protect against legal liability.

With your consent. We may disclose your Personal Data for any other purpose with your consent.

3. Retention of Personal Data

We will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy, except that:

  • We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies; and
  • We may also retain your Personal Data to the extent necessary to strengthen the security or improve the functionality of our Website.

Data collected by Google Analytics in connection with the Website is retained for 14 months, after which Google deletes the underlying visit-level records. Web server and security logs generated by our hosting provider and by Cloudflare are retained for a limited period for troubleshooting and security purposes and are then deleted or overwritten in the ordinary course.

4. Transfer of Personal Data

The Website is hosted in the United States and is delivered through Cloudflare’s global content delivery network, which means that requests to the Website may be served by, and technical log data may be processed at, data centers in a number of countries. Our analytics and business platform providers also process data on their own systems, which may be located outside of Alaska or the United States. By using the Website, you understand that your Personal Data may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside of Alaska or the United States. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

5. Security of Personal Data

The security of your Personal Data is important to us. The Website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and payments are processed on our payment provider’s own secure page rather than on this Website. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100 percent secure. Although we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

V. Service Providers and Third Parties

1. Service Providers

Our Service Providers may have access to your Personal Data. These Service Providers may collect, store, use, process, and transfer information about your activity on our Website, or information provided through their platforms and services, in accordance with their respective privacy policies. The Service Providers and third-party platforms we use include, but are not limited to:

Website hosting and maintenance.  alpine.io  hosts and maintains the Website. Its servers generate and retain standard web server logs, which include your IP address, the pages you request, and the date and time of each request.

Cloudflare. Traffic to the Website passes through Cloudflare, which delivers our pages from servers close to you, filters malicious traffic, and provides security services. Cloudflare receives and processes the technical details of each request, including your IP address, browser, and the page requested. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without setting cookies, and Cloudflare’s network error reporting, which reports failed or interrupted connections so that we can diagnose delivery problems.

Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. We use Google Analytics 4 to monitor and analyze the use of our Website, and we deliver it through Google Tag Manager, a tag management service that loads and controls the measurement code on our pages. Google Analytics uses the cookies described in Section II to distinguish visits and report on Website traffic. It uses your IP address to estimate your general location and does not retain your IP address in the reports available to us. We do not use Google Analytics data for advertising, and we have not enabled Google advertising features or the sharing of our Analytics data with Google advertising services. You can prevent Google Analytics from measuring your visits by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on described in Section VII. For more information on the privacy practices of Google, see the Google Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Google Fonts. Our pages load typefaces and a font loading script from Google servers. When your browser requests those files, Google receives your IP address and browser information. This is separate from Google Analytics, and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on does not affect it.

LawPay. We use LawPay, a third-party payment processing service, to accept payments for legal services. The “Pay an Invoice” link on the Website takes you to a payment page hosted by LawPay at secure.lawpay.com. Card information is entered on LawPay’s page and is not entered on, transmitted through, or stored on our Website. We do not store the credit or debit card information you provide through LawPay.

iManage and ShareFile. We use third-party document management and collaboration platforms, including iManage and ShareFile, in connection with our business operations. Information provided through or maintained on these platforms may be subject to the respective privacy policies and security practices of those providers.

Centerbase. We use Centerbase, a cloud-based accounting and client portal platform, in connection with our billing, accounting, and client portal operations. Information provided through or maintained on Centerbase may be subject to Centerbase’s privacy policy and security practices.

2. Third-party websites

Our Website may contain links to other websites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. Block cookies. You can set your browser to refuse all or some cookies, to delete cookies that have already been set, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. Refusing or deleting cookies will prevent our analytics cookies from being set. It will not prevent you from reading or navigating the Website.

Opt out of Google Analytics. You can prevent your activity from being measured by Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The add-on stops the Google Analytics code from sending information about your visit to Google. It is available for desktop versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera, it applies to every website you visit rather than only ours, and it is not available for mobile browsers. On a mobile browser, refusing cookies or using your browser’s tracking protection features provides a similar result.
